We visited 12 restaurants for this project, but most insightful was our visit to Murphy's, an Atlanta gem. It took the waiter over 90 seconds to split a bill in half, and they had to use their phone calculator to do it. What a mess.
Recalling my days of working Front-of-House in a restaurant, I made this sketch of the ordering process to visualize my thoughts.
To storyboard the happy path (before we knew what the UI would look like), I drew this.
